Hi, I am Marla Johnson. I was raised in Illinois and arrived in Long Beach in 1975. I went to college and graduated with a teaching degree in math and science. I taught for two and a half years in Montana. I met my husband Jack during summer break of 1975. We have been married for 38 years; we have one daughter, three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. I have two adorable cats – Rascal and Stubby. I am currently a commercial insurance agent for Strand Insurance. I have worked as a commercial insurance agent for Strand Insurance since 1982 and I continue to enjoy helping people with their needs and solving their insurance issues.
Outside of work I am very involved in the community. I have been involved in the local quilt guild. I enjoy quilting, embroidery, and sewing. I am a member of the local Lions Club and I am a past President. I have been a member of Eastern Star for over 30 years and have served as Worthy Matron four times and currently I am the secretary. I was a member of the Rebekah Lodge and served as Noble Grand three times until we closed our local lodge in December of 2014. In addition, I work on several of the local festivals sponsored by the Long Beach Merchants – Beach to Chowder Challenge/Discovery Trail Half Marathon and Washington State International Kite Festival of which I am the treasurer. I am also involved with my church as chairman of the Finance Committee and the Endowment Committee.
