April is Nation Distracted Driver Awareness Month!
|Everyone is a distracted driver from time to time. Getting distracted while driving is simple your phone may ring, your passenger may tell a joke, your baby in the backseat may start crying. According to the US Government site for Distracted Driving (Distraction.gov), the top driver distractions include:|
- Using your phone
- Eating and/or drinking
- Visiting with passengers
- Reading, including maps
- Using a GPS
- Watching a video
- Adjusting the radio or stereo system
The National Safety Council estimates that roughly 1.6 million accidents are caused each year by drivers using cell phones to either text or make calls. The number of accidents caused each year by other distractions is much larger.
